How we choose · Edition 01
Useful context.
Clear boundaries.
A tool directory should help you make a decision, not just give you another tab to open.
What makes the collection
This first collection is an editorial starting point, chosen for useful documented workflows, accessible source code, traceable examples and clear setup tradeoffs. It is not a live ranking of the newest or most popular releases.
We reviewed official repositories, documentation, license files and creator examples on October 14, 2026. That date records the source check, not the project's release. We did not install, execute or benchmark these projects.
The collection includes 12 projects across Coding & Agents, Music & Audio, Images & Video, and 3D. The initial order groups them by category; it does not represent a performance or popularity score.
What the evidence labels mean
Documentation reviewed
Official documentation and license sources inspected; claims not independently reproduced.
Creator demo
Examples or demonstrations supplied by project creators. Playback or interactive generation may not have been tested; see each note.
Official examples
Official tutorials, transcripts or example code. These document a workflow rather than prove its performance.
Independent example
An attributable example from someone outside the project; none included in this edition.
Hands on tested
A workflow actually run with recorded setup and outcome; none included in this edition.
The caveats are part of the recommendation
Open-source code can still depend on restricted model weights, paid APIs or expensive hardware. We list those distinctions where established and keep unknowns visible. Check the current project and license before deploying it, and review any generated output.
Setup difficulty is an editorial estimate
- Moderate: installation, model configuration or a local/hosted model connection is typically needed.
- Advanced: coding, GPU/dependency management or infrastructure configuration is generally required.
These labels do not promise a completion time. Your system, model choice and experience can change the setup substantially.
“Open source” describes the code
It does not automatically grant commercial rights to model weights, training data, outputs or a hosted service. We separate code licenses from model and provider terms on each detail page. This collection is not legal advice or a safety review.
Independent by design
No paid placement, affiliate ranking or sponsor endorsement is included in this edition. Any future sponsorship should be visibly separated from editorial selections.
There are no fabricated user counts, reviews or popularity scores. This prototype has no account system, email collection, analytics or payment flow. It uses no third-party client-side scripts or external fonts. A hosting provider may separately process basic access logs under its own policies.
A starting point, not a complete market map
Twelve selections cannot represent every useful project. Official sources can be incomplete or change after our check. The collection has not independently tested performance, security, output quality or hardware compatibility. “Proof of Use” is a working editorial name; it describes our emphasis on documented workflows, not a claim that we ran these tools.
One source of truth, readable by agents
The downloadable catalogue contains exactly the same 12 records used to generate this site. Each record includes its official sources, check date, use cases, requirements, code license and separate model caveats.
Schema version: 1.0.0. Read-only static files. No application API key is required; the files are available to anyone with access to this site. Our agent guide describes the available paths. Re-check primary sources before relying on the data for a deployment or licensing decision.
